Thrive's Training Clinic
In 2024, Thrive started its training clinic. If you read our story on the Working with Us page, the nascence of our training clinic will sound familiar. When Demian Rubalcaba, LCSW, graduated from his master's degree, he felt like he had been shot into a void where he was completely unprepared with the knowledge to know where and how to start his professional career. Now, after a lot of collaboration with Dave Van Horn, LPCC, PhD, our program is made up of all the things that Demian and Dave each wished had existed when they were burgeoning therapists.
Thrive Counseling Training Clinic
After completion in our training program, you will:
-Have the supervision hours and paperwork to attain your independent license
-Be trained and certified in gold-standard modalities such as EMDR, emotion-focused therapy, CBT via the Beck Institute and motivational interviewing (the program covers all of these costs as well)
-Learn all the practical things that you defiantly didn't learn in school like writing notes, how to handle clients that no-show, and much more.
-Be the best therapist you can be as you start your independent career
-Have the option to stay at Thrive as an independent therapist.

Pay and Benefits:
1. An annual total pay of $62,100 (this includes PTO and the wellness stipend). $57,300 is the base without stipend and this is as a salary, not pay-per-session.
Something to note here is that this total is as a w-2 employee, not a contractor, which means we pay half of your employment taxes, this comes out to approximately an extra 7.5% of salary.
2. A wellness stipend of $400 per month is added to your pay to cover health insurance and other health-related costs, including having extra days off, your gym membership, or self-care days at the spa. We can also get you set up with any marketplace insurance via our broker. The stipend adds a total of $4,800 yearly.
3. 2-weeks PTO (you can take more time off if you want). Please keep in mind that the $57,300 above does include the 2-weeks of PTO money. However:
4. An increase to $67,000 is possible as we provide a bonus for therapists who complete three extra weekly sessions (Note: each extra session is reimbursed at $65).
5. A 3% matched retirement plan.
In summary: $57,300 base that includes two weeks PTO and a $4,800 yearly total wellness stipend for a minimum total yearly pay of $62,100.

Thrive’s training program is a personal, safe, supportive and encouraging professional workplace that is diverse and fun! Thrive takes the inclusivity of all people very seriously and we have a deep level of trust between all of our colleagues. You have control over your schedule; supervision times will always be flexible (group supervision a little less so), you can choose when you see clients, what kind of clients you see, and whether you want all in-person or a hybrid remote/in-person schedule (a fully remote schedule is not recommended for the training program). Paychecks are issued every 2-weeks on a Friday and we provide professional liability coverage for you.

Our clientele are all self-referrals. We do not have any agreements with the state or city and we do not see court-mandated folks, so no DV or forced substance-use treatment. People that come to Thrive are almost 50/50 Medicaid and private insurance. We only accept clients that are appropriate for a low-acuity level of care.
Our expectations:
-You must be someone who is sincerely motivated to learn and grow. This is an expectation that you can have for us as well.
-Twenty-two completed weekly-sessions (we are never punitive if this is not accomplished). If issues arise, we always approach them with respect, positivity and understanding
